DETAILS

5:30-6:15 pm ~ More than just an Artist Statement ~ Juanita Lara, Development Director for BronxNet TV. At The Forum @ Columbia University, 605 W 125th Street, New York, NY 10027, Meeting Room 315.

The purpose of writing an Artist Statement is to illuminate your artwork. It’s compelling and personal, and it takes a real effort to write an impactful statement. Investing time and energy will not only give you a powerful artist statement, it will also help you write other narratives needed for grants, reports, publications, etc., as you advance in your artistic career. Do you need help writing about your art? Looking for inspiration or writing tips? Designed for artists who are looking for help writing about their art, this workshop will focus on best practices, getting into the habit of writing and awakening the writer in you. We will explore language for your Artist Statement, narrative biography, profile on your website, statement of purpose for grants and more.

6:30 – 8:00 pm ~ Mix & Mingle at “314 Pizza, Pasta & Cocktail Bar”, just two blocks from the Forum @ 3143 Broadway, between La Salle & Tiemann Place.

A post-workshop networking Mixer will bring together facilitators, partners, and artists to engage in dialogue, ask questions, and network around the workshop themes. Light refreshments will be provided.

The workshop will be presented by Juanita Lara, Development Director for BronxNet TV. Juanita has 20+ years as non-profit fundraising consultant for arts organizations and artists. She is a writer, theater director/performer and is currently working on (and fundraising for) a scripted series for BronxNet TV.

This workshop will be in-person only, so to reserve your seat, please
